"Baldwins have crafted something wonderful with Goldbrick, a menagerie of delicious connections to musical delicacies old and new, and a fantastically unique, distinct and expressive debut." - Happy Mag

Baldwins' debut single Goldbrick is a hard-hitting first impression. Opening with a fat drum fill, the track immediately launches into a heavy piano riff with trashy hip-hop drums. A raucous 3-part horn section delivers the tune’s enduring hook. The group sits so far back on the beat that it risks falling off, yet they stay grooving with a lopsided rhythmic swagger that takes cues from D’Angelo and legendary hip-hop producer J Dilla. Lyrically, the track deals with themes that are commonplace in modern life, procrastination and distraction: “Please give me one second, to remember what I need to forget.” Courtney Josh echoes this tension in her agile vocal delivery- soulful and delicate one moment, then powerful and robust come the track’s epic choruses. The group labels their sound as “progressive soul” – combining the rhythmic sensibilities of neo-soul & hip-hop, the lush harmony of jazz, and the raw energy of rock. These inspirations amalgamate into an unconventional sound that is entirely their own.

Travellin, eyes closed
Don't know what's in front or behind me
Locked in, headphones
Closed out from distraction
I should, I know
Get on what I've been tasked with
Please give me on more second
To remember what I need to forget

Shouldn't be my middle name
My to do list
Is in my imagination
I should focus
Rather, zone out and forget it
Please, give me on second
To remember what I need to forget

Trapped in my mind see
Held fast, I'm stuck
Trapped in my daydream
With no intent to wake up

Putting things off,
You could say it's my speciality
Well it's my middle name
Give me sometime
To recline turn off my mind
Please give me one second
To remember what I need to forget

Trapped in my mind see
Held fast, I'm stuck
Trapped in my daydream
With no intent to wake up
